Some people in Calgary and people in our sister city Edmonton, make jokes and like competition between the two cities, but for me it is special to view images from Northern Alberta. Both cities have many similarity and strong drive of local patriotism. Gung Gung and Gentle your articles shows wonderful images with superb insider views and are very interesting. I bet that David, who is owner of this web site, knows exactly how many hits and how much interest is out there for the articles that have been posted by you. Your comments are not only very kind but also very encouraging to pay more attention to the details. You are all very experienced travelers and know very well how to read and decipher presented sites. You are right that our cities in Canada are green and everyone is very proud of the communities where we live. Like everywhere else life goes on and it is the same here, more development and progress, but still strong ties to the past history. With great interest I view Don's (as well as Dwayne's) pictorial presentations from the beautiful city of Edmonton located along the spectacular North Saskatchewan River Valley. Edmonton is our sister city to the North of us. Edmonton is one of my wife's most favorite cities!

That's a wonderful collection of downtown Calgary. I've always loved stopping by at the Eau Claire Market and Prince's Island whenever I've passed through the city and many of the subjects of your photos are things I have not seen yet, but will be looking for them in future. I'm looking forward to seeing your next set of (autumn) photos of the city. Actually, there are not that many golden leaves in Edmonton yet. I was highly selective in which trees I photographed. Maybe next week :-) P.S. BAck in June I stayed overnight at the Eau Claire campground south of Mount Kidd in the Kananaskis and first learned of the connection between the Eau Claire Market and the log drives on the Kananaskis. It's a fascinating story about Calgary's history. I didn't realize that Eau Claire was named after the place in Wisconsin.

Hi Rafal,
You folks up in Canada are lucky to have a 1 hr. lunch break, down here in the U.S. we only get 1/2 hour:) You surely make a good use of that break! But then again, Calgary seems to be a very nice place that can make a person keep taking pics during a lunch break.

I spent 2 days in Toronto at the end of our Euro trip this summer & was impressed with the city. Looking at your Calgary articles, seems like it's similar to Toronto - a modern, clean city with lots to see! Really like the downtown pic (the high-rises by the green river), it looks like a fine area to walk simply hang-around during a lunch break. Cheers!!!

What a great opening shot of Calgary! Tell the truth! Did you lift it off a postcard?! I last visited Calgary 10 years ago. So much upward growth that I hardly recognize any of it. Thanks for the update with your great pictures.
