Smoky Days in Calgary and Canmore

Last August and early September 2003, Calgary skies have been under influence of heavy smoke from burning forests in BC. Some days the visibility and quality of the air were very poor.

Thanks for your rave review of my latest album :-) Looks like we have the corner on bright foliage until the leaves start to change in the east. I'd love to get down to Calgary with my bicycle to ride the trails down there and get a few pictures of the fall colours but it seem that every time I have passed through Calgary this year it was after dark. I want to get that picture of the classic view from the park above the Zoo with the skyline and autumn foliage in the foreground and the snow covered mountains behind under morning light. Well, maybe next year!

Hi Rafal,
The forest smoke surely added crispness & beauty to the photography. Really like the pics of fishermen at sunset, looks very romantic. Yeah, the Kyoto Agreement forgot about forest fires whether natural or man-made:) As for that Canadian law, it sort-off doesn't make much sense. Down here, it's O.K. to pick & take home a road kill. Anyway, the Canadian Rockies is really spectacular, hope to see it someday. Cheers!

I never tire of looking at Canadian sunsets...whether they be dust- or forest fire-induced. I can still remember the glorious sunsets (and sunrises) that were the results of Mts Pinatubo and St Helens erupting more than 10 years ago.
