I was at Camp Kue with MCB 5 in 1960. We stayed in some quonset huts at the far end of the base. There was a hole in the fence at the back corner which we used, to get to the village. Our hut boys were only paid two dollars per month by each person in the hut we were told not to tip them, but we made sure they got any thing they wanted. It was great duty.

The dragon is called a shi shi and its roots are in China, but it's synonomous with the Ryukyu Islands
