On certain days, the Puffing Billy train is pulled by a diesel locomotive. Mercifully, that was not the case when we visited, and we had not one, but two steam locomotives at the lead. Unfortunately, school holidays meant a very long train, and we are too far behind to enjoy the glories of steam to the full. The diesel is seen here resting silently. Note a water crane for the steamers lying in the foreground.
