The Battle of Britain lasted four months, Aug - Dec 1940. It is commemorated every September, at the Aviation Museum. In 1940 Britain had about 600 Spitfires and Hurricanes vs 1290 German fighters and thousands of bombers. More than 1500 German planes were shot down. 103 Canadians flew Spitfire and Hurricane fighters.
