Penang Hill

Penang Hill is actually a complex of hills and spurs. The highest point is Western Hill which is 830 m. The cooler temperatures of Penang Hill are the attraction as a hill resort.

Some of the flora and fauna of Penang Hill are considered as endemic species. The witch hazel or Maingaya malayana is an example.

The furnicular train has its own colorful history. The first attempt in 1897-1905 was met with failure. The successful second attempt was built from 1907-1923. There is a tunnel which measures 258 feet long and 10 feet wide starting at steepness of 35 feet high. This is the steepest tunnel in the world.

Come to Penang Hill and you will find that the atmosphere, the flora and the fauna are there for you to explore.
