The Cathedral on the ridge at the very heart of Roskilde fjord cuts a prominent figure in the town and local landscape.Churches have been located on this spot for more than 1,000 years.In 1995 ,the Cathedral was added to UNESCO"s list of the world"s most precious cultural assets.The church is one of the earlest examples of French-inspired,Gothic brick architecture and whol site constitutes a beautifull ,harmonic unit.The Cathedral has never hosted coronaties or royal weddings ,however and the actual burial cermomies are also held elsewhere.Roskilde Cathedral became a mausoleum for the Danish royal family and reaped the benfits of the royal favours that accompanied its status.Magnificent sepulchers were interred in royal chapels and the building was properly maintained in accordance with its elevated status..For me was it GREAT visit this church!!I must to see!!Roskilde is 30 km from Oslo.
