Cameron Highlands Excursion, 2003

These photos were taken in January 2003 on a two day, one night excursion by hired car/driver from Penang to the Cameron Highlands, with the usual stops in Taiping, Ipoh and Kuala Kangsar en route.

Ringlet
Hiya...I lived in Cameron Highlands in the late 60's to the early 70's. I cannot find ANY pics of Ringlet. Is the Lakehouse all that is left?

I have found pics of Tanah Rata and Brinchang. Brinchang back then was FULL of flies from rhe manure on the crops. Your car would fill up with flies in seconds.

I lived right before Rnglet. My brother and I would walk to dwntn. Then just a post office and 7 stores.

Could you please help me find pics of Ringlet.

Hi Lorraine, once again, thanks for taking a lot of Malaysia photos to share with us. Really great collection, the Taiping Lake is one of the best. Yes, Gunung Irau hike is tough, but I'm sure you do have other places in Malaysia to visit and enjoy surroundings, such as Tasik Bera, Paya Indah, which has unique wetland characteristic, besides of not strenuous, as you have seen from my photos:)

for the suggestions..... however, due to arthritis in my hips, climbing is very painful & i suffer for a couple days after.... the joy of getting old ;o) i can walk on the flat for long distances, but can't climb inclines, hills or "gunung gunung" [mountains, plural ;o)]. was hoping the lake was somewhere flat....

Great pictures of Cameron Highlands yourself. If you are planning a repeat visit, get a local guide to get to Gunung Irau...(starting point is from Gunung Brinchang). It's definitely worth the hike..Check out worldisround article from PC Ooi from the same trip for more amazing pics of this fairyland.
