Neat stuff.. the temple
Rafal, sorry that I didn't take the time to view this durung last weekend. As usual, your article accompany with descriptions where I always spend longer time digesting photos with words to appreciate more. I make use my after dinner time to read it in my room now... Ditto with the rest, from first eye I laid on the temple, HARMONY yet SYMMETRIC. Ancient Egyptians were so giften in calculation? THeir architecture always neat.. time for me to read up some history now.. Thanks for sharing.. it makes a better picture with your description!!

Thank you friends for your really nice comments about our visit to this spectacular place.. Yes, it is true that many people visiting this area for the first time did not realize how much ancient history is in Upper Egypt which is quite different from Lower Egypt where the Pyramids are located.. As Connie noted that the valley of the Nile River is close to Hutshepsut Temple and in the past all this area was flooded before the Aswan Dam was built. According to recent findings there is still an open debate in the archeological community that a hieroglyph showing Pharaoh Hatshepsut arriving to the temple by boat. Does the image indicate that the canal was connecting the temple with the Nile River or just showing her as an ancient world traveler?

Hi Rafal. Nice shot series of the temple!. I knew almost nothing about it before I came there. Then, when I saw the wall paintings of the lower room at right, I realised I had seen them many times. Many people know about the Karnak, Luxor and Abu Simbel temples, but this excellent piece is not so well known. Good job, as usual!.

Wonderful, Rafal!
Thank you for opening my eyes to this aspect of the ancient Egyptian civilization about which I was totally ignorant. Like (I suspect) many others, I always thought that they had only built pyramids, sphynxes, and other huge statues. I had no idea that they had built a temple with classical lines like this right into the side of a mountain. It's also quite an eye-opener for me to see the uniformity of colour of the existing rock and the temple construction. Your photos also make it clear that the sunlight is more than intense: it is quite overwhelming. No wonder the all-powerful pharaohs chose this area to commemorate themselves for all eternity. I hope you'll keep 'em coming!
