17 Kilometers away from the economical capital of Boliva, Santa Cruz, lies the town or city of Cotoca. You can take a taxi or a microbus from the outskirts of Santa Cruz and reach Cotoca in around 45 minutes.

The population of Cotoca originates of the most important tribal groups of South America, the Guarani. It is characterized by the making of the handicraft in ceramics and knitting. There is also a legend associated with this ethnic group: http://www.angelinasimportsllc.com/legend_of_the_guarani_indians.htm

The most important cultural patrimony of this population is represented by the Virgin of Cotoca, whose patronal feast is on December 8th and 15th.

The devotes of the Virgin of Cotoca attribute her extraordinary miraculous virtues, for which reason thousands of pilgrims set out from Santa Cruz in a procession as far as the sanctuary of Mamita of Cotoca.

I went there with the microbus, and had fun at the market, I cudnt taste the food but took some wierd vegtables for rice stuffing, some corn and cheese bakeries, and corn with cheese egggs back home to taste... Was lots of fun.

There at the market we wanted to shop for making a fruit salad, my Bolivan friend wouldnt buy just any kind of bananas. In south America there is a variety of kinds of banans with different names even. The small bananas for exmapole are called bananinos, taste not so sweet are somehow hard. These are used only for frying.

The market was very colorful. Enjoy the picutres.
