meeting other cyclists
Bicycling in Australia picture - Cycling ("pushbiking") across Australia may be an exotic enterprise, but I wasn't the only one. I met other cyclists on the Stuart Highway. On the average, I saw fellow cyclists once every two or three days. Without exception, that meant a stop and a talk, exchanging experiences and actual information about "further down the road". Most cyclists I met were from Japan. Some were cycling all parts of the country, reducing my giant leap from Darwin to Melbourne to appear as a small recreational ride. Others were combining their cycling with bus rides. The idea of riding in a bus repelled me. I would have had a feeling of cheating myself. (more on http://bora.dacom.co.kr/~boonstra/aus/page19.htm )
