In this part of the country, between Adelaide and the Murray River Valley, there were also interesting towns, like Burra, Morgan and Renmark. These towns, with their colonial style buildings, created a countryside atmosphere. This atmosphere was especially found in the typical hotels. These hotels, in remarkable contrast to the roadhouses and motels along the Stuart Highway, provided cheap accommodation, but rarely with a private bath or toilet in the room.
