A day at Melbourne Zoo

It was a rainy day, so I stayed around the butterfly house and the huge bird aviary for most of the time. Anyway, photography is much easier when there are no bars to get in the way. It also makes for a much more natural experience.

The one labelled 'bird' looks like a female or juvenile satin bowerbird, but don't quote me on that... Great photos. I'm coming around to the idea a digital camera might be a good sight better for travel than my "wait and see if the shot turns out" SLR.

Beautiful photographs, Steve. Photographing birds (and any wildlife for that matter) is like photographing children. Highly unpredictable and prone to quick movements. You must have a lot of patience! Are most of these creatures endemic to Oz?
