painted on one side of the convention center, is by acclaimed environmental artist Wyland who wanted to show homage to whales and other creatures of the sea by devoting his talent to painting 100 walls across the world. This mural was his 53rd project. The mural, which is 153 feet long & 23 feet high, took over 111 gallons of paint, 100 volunteers, and nearly four days to complete. Over 2000 Rio Grande Valley school children plus hundreds of other spectators were allowed to watch Wyland work throughout the week. Wyland donated his time and artwork, while local residents, private sponsors, and public organizations donated the materials. He plans to complete his 100th mural or "whaling wall" in 2008 along China's Great Wall. This is the link to his web site: http://www.wyland.com/htmlsite/who/history.html
