Good old days...
If the Pahlavi monarchy had remained, Iran would without any doubt be one of the world's most advanced, prosperous and progressive nations today! God bless their souls!
— Mahvash, April 7, 2009
Unfair treatment by the world
They were far from perfect, but who is perfect in this world? They were Iran's best alternative at the time, and they did a lot for Iran. More than anything they instilled a national sense of pride and self-worth in the hearts of Iranians that is resounding til this day. During their rule the name Iran was prestigious throughout the world. The same world trated them unfairly, and so many lies were said about them. May history treat them fair. They deserve it.

Last week I visited Niyavaran Palace. Read quite much on the royal family. While monarchy in Iran is over, they can still fight for democracy in their homeland. Long live the Pahalvi's! Iran needs you like never before.
— Pitet, June 23, 2008
when you don't value the humanity and the life of each person the condition will be like iran.every day fight for nothing. if you want to do publicity for islam at the cost of worsening of living condition of the people you never will be successful and you ruine the reputation of islam. remember this people didn't do revolution for islam they did revolution because they were thinking each month will receive 7000 tuman free. and again rememmber the hungery people don't know what is religion. if i should kiss the ass of a superpower in oder to make the life eazy for my people . i will do that . never ever fighting in any manner will resolve any problem

Victims of Geopolitics and Times
It is sad that a nation that was the standard bearer of Empire and Civilization would find itself being ruled by an anachronistic oligarchy of mullahs preaching the ways of Arab Nomads in the 21 Century. Cyrus the Great created a standard that has yet to be emulated and it is most unfortunate that by invoking the very essence of Cyrus the Shah, Mohamad Reza Pahlavi, ended his rule as the last Shah of Iran. What an Irony! An paradox in history similar to that of Roman Persian Wars that lasted approximately 500 years only to bring in the ancestors of these uncivilized barbarians - the Mullahs

Thanks very much for all these beautiful pictures. I should say to one of our dears who left a message on this page which said Pahlavi tried to werstrnize Iran, I think from my point of view, this is really wrong, in fact Pahlavi family specially Shah was trying to MODERNIZE Iran not Westernize, these two are two different subjects. In Pahlavi time we had all our Iranian culture and all our Iranian Celebration and respected each other very much, and the other subject that I wanted to say, in those days as we had loads of betreyers such as HEZBE TOODEH, Cherik Fadi and ... who were trying to give whole Iran to Russia, couldn't get anything as Shah Loved his country and tried to protect his country from the hands of enemies. so he had to exile them or prisoned them. But unfortunatley in 1979 Traitors (Hezbeh TOODEH, CHRIK FADI, ... and Mojahedin) could manage to take over the country give it to hands of our old enemies like Britain and Russian and France.

Great pictures
Although i am just 23 and not at all Iranian. But i have to say this that ever sincei was a child i have always heard my mother and my grandmother admire the Empress Farah of Iran. Though i have English and Pakistani blood in me i would like to add that my grandmother always said that the Emporer and Empress were the rulers of the modern Muslim world. And that is so true. The Empress especially gave the country of Iran opulance and the glitter to the great Pahalvi dynasty. The question i have is why isnt she wearing her great diamonds when attending the great funtions of the royals in Europe? If HER MAJESTY see's this and i hope she does. She should realize that she is the one representing the Iranain royalty and she should be as glamourous as possible. And if i honestly ever see her my biggest dream is to go up to her and do a deep curtesy as her stature in life requires us to do so. P.s. I also happen to live in potomac, md your majesty

Dear Mr. Safavi
If you look up the word "dynasty" in the dictionary I think you'll find the answer to your question. TheFreeDictionary defines the meaning of "dynasty" the following way: "dy·nas·ty (dn-st) n. pl. dy·nas·ties 1. A succession of rulers from the same family or line. 2. A family or group that maintains power for several generations: a political dynasty controlling the state." ("Several" meaning more than one generation)http://www.thefreedictionary.com/dynasty According to this definition, the Pahlavi rule was indeed a dynasty.

Imperial Iran was grand.....but i have a short question. How can a father-son rule with only two monarchs in history be reffered to as a dynasty?

Thank You Mr. Razavi
Thank you for gathering these magnificent pictures about our beloved Imperial family. Sadly all is left for us is their memory and had it not been for the British backed revolution of the crazy Mullahs Iran would ba one of the greatest countries on earth. My God Bless the Late Pahlavi Kings
— Mohammad-Reza Pardisan, July 30, 2007
Thank you. I have had the honor to meet a few of the people shown. Regardless to their place in history, these particular people were (are) truly "ladies & gentlemen" and hold a special place in my heart.
— Maureen, July 26, 2007
...Almost forgot to thank you Mr. Razavi for creating such a museum on line, and wish you and all Iranians and Iran Lovers a very happy Norooz 1386. Iran has always been and will always be a great nation!
— Pars Irandoost, March 25, 2007
This is certainly a nice museum of our recent past. However, let's not forget that Pahlavi was not the only glittering era. Qajars, Safavids, and many more were once glorious and glittering too, but were all blown away by history's storms which were meant to happen. meant to happen to evolve our great nation to the next level. While aweing and pittying at these photos, let's not forget to focus on today's Iran, its people, it's current affairs and how its future is taking shape.

I was just searching the web for some pictures of the Iranian Imperial Dynasty, and voila! I found your site. Its simply great to say the least. Looking at the pictures I must say that one cannot but feel a little sad for the wonderful days gone by. Anyways I am not the best person to judge, being a person living in a 'royalty free' India. So for history's sake, keep it up. I again appreciate your efforts.

I am again sad to read some of our dear Hamvatanan's comments to your site. What tortured souls we are. When are we going to shape up and do something positive for this famous VATAN? Only cheap opinions and no action but attacking each other. By the way "Tolerance" is also a form of action! Think about it, whosever side you are on.
— Firouzeh, December 27, 2006
Dear Hamid
I think you have misunderstood my motives. It certainly has nothing to do with nostalgia or cowardice. It's merely a showcase of something that was an important part of Iran's recent history. I hope you're not suggesting that we should burn all the pictures from that time and not talk about that period of Iranian history as if it never happened... Your comments suggest that I hold the opinion that the Pahlavi monarchy was "so good" - Yet I haven't made any remarks here that would suggest that this would be the case. Perhaps one shouldn't overdramatize something as simple as a gallery of historical pictures, and instead just take it for what it is.
— Showcase IRAN (by various photographers), December 27, 2006
I don't mean to decry your efforts but enough nostalgia. It was a dream that was never meant to be.

If if that was that good why didn't we fight to preserve?

Such glutony of nostalgia only shows up our cowerdice.
— hamid, December 25, 2006

Thanks Mr. Razavi!
Dear Compatriot Razavi, Words cannot express my thanks to you and your staff members for such a presentation; such a work that brings our glorious Fatherland right into our very eyes, albeit away from our beloved Iran "Molk e Kian." Your fine and artistic renditions brings us together, no matter what. Years earlier while living in Geneva, I used to regularly visit "Ecole le Rosey" in nearby Rolle, some forty kms. from Geneva. Those days we still did not have the privilege to have your benign site. At Rosey (as a former Officer of the Imperial Iranian Air Force), an emotional trance overwhelmed me as I stood at attention and saluted my heroic Commander (His Imerial Majesty) where he once studied, and suddenly heard a "sombre strains" of........"Aye Iran Aye marz e por Gohar...................." Mr. Razavi, we all look forward to your continued success and well being.

To Mr. Ahankar-Kermani
Dear Mr. Ahankar-Kermani,

Thank you for your kind words. I'm glad that these photo galleries are bringing you and other Iranians joy. We should also thank those photgraphers whose beautiful pictures I'm showcasing in these galleries. Yes they say I'm a Seyed (A descendant of the eight Emam, Emam Reza (PbuH))- Whether I am truly Seyed or not, I do not know. But If I am, then I am immensly honored to be so. And if part of me then is not Iranian because of this, then that's absolutely fine with me. I wouldn't mind being a descendant of Jesus Christ or Moses (PbuT), even though they were not Iranian. Thank you again.
— Showcase IRAN (by various photographers), December 19, 2006

Mr. Razavi (perhaps Seyed Razavi. Shahram is an Iranian name. It simply does not fit to a seyed who is NOT Iranian) has the absolute right to his statements. It is his freedom of speech and thought) by presenting these pictures and "Tehran, Mega Capital of Iran" has brought joy to us, especially the beautiful pictures of Iran (world is round series). He has brought Tehran to our houses. Salute to this gentleman.

Answer to Tania
Dear Tania, The fact that you seem to see "westernized" for Iran and Iranians as something to strive for says it all! I do not want my Iran to be "westernized" - I want Iran to be Iran. Perhaps that was the essential problem with the Pahlavi rule - It wanted to turn Iran into a "Western" country. The Shah relied on getting his advise from Americans and Brits instead of from his own countrymen! One may admire the glitter and pomp, but to go back to that period? No thank you! Independence, self-reliance and national pride in the Iranian identity are the keys to a prosperous and progressive Iran
— PROUD to be Iranian, December 14, 2006
BEFORE AND AFTER< I PREFER BEFORE
These pictures bring to life an iran we once knew, some of us being only children, it shows the dynamic and often a westernized story tell of what iran was, so proud to say that my former country was a part of a royal sophisticated traditional foundation, we had a beautiful legacy to carry it till the 70's. Where can we buy a book of these photograph collections????
— Tania, December 13, 2006
It was wonderful to walk through a good memory lane.Merci

His Imperia Majesty is eternal!
Thank you for posting such historically valuable pictures of His Imperial majesty, The Empress, The Crown Prince and Prince Ali Reza and the two Princesses. A true Iranian can never ever forget how His Imperial Majesty lived for Iran and us the Iranians. May His soul rest in peace and in heaven. We the people of Yazd, the true Iranians, hail Him. Shaha! Personal attacks and defaming
I had to delete the last two comments. Any comments that resort to personal attacks and defaming of anyone will be deleted. It's not a matter of whether I agree or not with the statements, It's just that I do not condone personal attacks or defaming of anyone, be it the Shah, Ayatollah Khomeini, their families or anyone else. There are plenty of political forums for people to vent their frustrations in this regard. Thank you.
— Showcase IRAN (by various photographers), November 22, 2006
Dear Shahram: What a fantastic job you have done.I looked at every single one of the pictures a few times. I learned a lot more about our history. A nation without a history is a nation without roots. Although I am not a pro monarchy but looking at the pictures made me proud and brought tears to my eyes. A nation of so much civilization and pride! I just know that the phoenix of our nation will once again rise from its ashes. Many thanks to you for gathering such complete album of the Pahlavi era. I do have some pictures of my own that I could share with you; if you are interested I would be more than happy to email them to you. I also wanted you to know that I do have the original Life and Times Magazine with Mohammad Reza Shah, Empress Farah Pahlavi, and Reza Shah. I guess I collect parts and pieces of the history just like you. I downloaded all your pictures into a Imperial folder of mine I hope you don’t mind. I just loved your work. Thanks again.

beautiful
I have never seen a more beautiful empirial family. They were fantastic. HIM Farah Diba Pehlavi is divine. She is probably one of the most beautiful women to ever walk this earth. To bad the empire did not last. Persia (Iran) would have definetedly been THE REAL CIVILIZED COUNTRY OF THE MIDDLE EAST. Iranians must be proud.

In response to "Shahrokh": Dear "Shahrokh", you ask me how much I got from the Shah's wife to write these. I suppose what you mean are the pictures I have posted of the Pahlavi family. My answer to you is thatI have recieved just as much money from the Shah's wife as I got from the Wife of Nassereddin Shah for the Qajar photo album, and the wife of the mayor of Tehran for posting pictures of Tehran in the Tehran photo album, or the Wife of Ayatollah Khomeini for posting pictures of the Islamic revolution/Republic in the respective photo album. Seriously though, posting a picture of someone/something does not mean that you are pro or anti that which you posted a picture of. Nor does it mean that you necessarily recieved money for it! Whether you like it or not, the Pahlavi era is part of Iranian history.
