The marriage to Queen Fawzia, sister of King Farouk of Egypt, didn't last long. The Queen was not happy with the rigid atmosphere of the Iranian court and the intrigues and hostilities aimed at her by certain female members of the Iranian imperial family. The Iranian state radio declared that the Queen had left for a vacation to her native Cairo. She never returned. The Shah and the Queen had one daughter, Princess Shahnaz.
