Santorini has to be one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. However, hospitality is not one of the island's high points, especially if you are a lone traveller being greeted with a whole lot of signs showing vacant rooms in hotels.

The main activities include the Caldera island tour, which begins from Fira and sails through the underwater volcano of Nea and Palea Kameni, Thirassia and its hillside town of Manola before finishing at Oia. Others include wandering around the streets of Fira, seeing the sunsets at Oia ... (more)

Beautiful photographs.

I wish you had experienced the hospitality that my friends and I did. We stayed at a family-owned hotel. Our stay fell in the middle of Eastern Orthodox Easter, and the family invited us to be a part of their celebration...lamb on the spit, fish, dill dip, and drinks for everyone, along with dancing and good conversation beside the pool. We felt very welcomed.

Thanks for fascinating photos! There is a law, the bldgs. must be whitewashed each year, that keeps them nice and sparkly! Also, blue is a sacred color for the Greeks, often used on churches. Watch out for high-priced places!
