The pilgrims' refugios or albergues had varying opening times and it was not unusual to find queues of pilgrims relaxing while they waited for the refugio to open so they could claim a bed for the night. In Arzua, there were 41 people waiting to claim one of the 45 beds available by the time the Hospitallera opened the doors.
