Former Malaysian Railway building
Sightseeing in Penang picture - & clock tower. It was built in 1907 for the Malayan Railway as its Headquarters for the northern region, and was widely known as the only railway station in the world without a railway track beside it. You could buy your train tickets there but you had to cross the channel by ferry to board your train in Butterworth on the mainland. It was subsequently a hotel with a popular bar and restaurant. In the late 60s it was taken over by the Penang Customs Office.
