Waterways of the Tsars

In July 2003, I took the river cruise from Moscow to St Petersburg with Viking Cruises and I recommend it to all. Here are some images from the trip.

On the same cruise was an existing contributor to Worldisround - Philip Douglis -and through meeting him, I have found worldisround and some considerable inspiration on how to present an image. I urge you to visit his site for a truly glorious set from this tour.

Splendid imagery
It is a joy to see these photos, Brian -- so many of them feature striking juxtapositions of subject matter, expressing a marvelous sense of place, wit, and irony. I loved the legs at GUM, the bearded face gazing at the churches, the dolls with the stadium behind it.

The finest travel pictures from Russia!
Hi Brian, one of the finest travel pictures from Russia. Your pictures show a glimpse into life in the big cities as well as rural areas. I can notice that Russian are working hard on a quick renovation on devastated old historical structures but past horror history can not be hidden even from your pictures. Submerged church in the water is just a tip of the iceberg in the ocean of ruins lost permanently from the public eyes. Regards, Rafal
