After visiting Neuschwanstein Castle,i pass by a small town - Memmingen, luckily on a local celebration day "The Fisherman's Day",which is unexpectedly amazing.

Memmingen began as a small settlement during the late Roman period and grew into an independent Imperial town. It is now an urban treasure trove in the Swabian-Bavarian lowlands of the Alps. The first European declaration of human rights was formulated here around the same time, known as the "12 Peasant Articles".

The Fisherman's Day has a long tradition and together with the Children's Festival are high points of the summer season. Every year since 1572, the stream running through the town has been emptied of fish, following an ancient ritual. The fisherman, who weighs in with the heaviest trout, is crowned the fisher king for the year. He leads the royal parade to the civic centre, where dancing and singing carry on late into the night.

Actually it is one of marvelous highlights in my Euro Tour of this time.
