For months we had planned to go sailing in Jan 2005 in Phuket, Thailand... and then three weeks before our trip, the tsunami hit. Our charter outfit, Sunsail, offered to switch our location to Langkawi, which is around 150 miles south of Phuket and was not much affected by the tsunami. It turned out to be a fantastic week. There were five of us on this trip: my wife and I, and old friend from high school, and two of my wife's cousins from the Philippines. We had an absolutely magical time.
