Another most interesting account. What amazes me is that you can remember such detail from 1989!!! Sad story about the building of the wall but boy would I love to get my hands on some of those delicious emeralds!!! Sounds like you had a great holiday there and the place is well worth a visit. Just thinking of trade winds is a comfort at the moment as the windsa whip around outside.

Thanks so much for telling about Cartagena "like it is". As an American who has lived in Cartagena for the last 25 years, I can vouch for the fact that if there were any danger for US citizens here I would certainly be concerned. Instead, my biggest problem in Cartagena last week was that the trade winds have taken longer than usual to set in and so the sailing conditions were not optimal for the last regatta!
