The City Landscape Of Tornio - The Port Of Lappi In Finland
The town is finely situated as it stands at the river. Torne River is the longest river in the northern Europe. From the Torne Valley and the twin-cities of Tornio-Haparanda in Finland and Sweden, where the river discharge its waters and where it meets the northern part of the Gulf of Bothnia one can snowmobile on an arctic ice road, or rent a car and take the highway to places in Finnish Lapland like Enontekio, Ivalo, Kemi, Kittila, Kuusamo and Rovaniemi as well. There are always great motifs to explore in the landscape.
Tornio is the oldest town in the northern Scandinavia. There are many old wooden houses with aesthetic values to be seen all over the town. The intensity of breaking down and building up is obvious in the city landscape. Luckely a lot is and will be saved for the coming generations.
The Euro City Development is the international main project of this region, where twin-cities Tornio and Haparanda in Finland and Sweden are building land together to let the cities grow together into Eurocity.
Using a digital camera when creating the photography gallery, it´s possible to easliy get a shoot and express the special light of the northern part of Finland. No lenses or filters are used or catching the light of Lappi would probably fail.
All the photographs are shoots simply exposed in the typical solar radiation of Finnish Lapland. Enjoy!
