A glimpse of Italy

A selection of what we saw from last year's European tour. The bane of joining tours is that you don't have a lot of opportunities to explore.. so you tend to end up with one cliche photo after the next.. the good thing is you get really good company, everything's arranged and you might just save a buck or two if you were to go on your own... places we visited include Rome, Pisa, Florence, Burano Island, Venice, Vatican City (ok.. not stritly speaking Italy ..) and a few others in between...Nov 2005.

What can I say?. These photos blew me away. I started to make a list of the ones I especially liked but there were too many..... and what do you mean you're not good at building & church pix?? these are FANTASTIC..... Composition & angles are great.... Adeleide is right. I am sooooo jealous ;o) You have a good eye Jon, & like Carol, a good eye for the unusual... Your humor shows through which makes your journals fun to look at... your night & sunset shots are great..... that's not my strong suit I'm afraid.... I see you like windows now too ;o) Keep up the great work (applause....)

Ah Jon, even when you take what you modestly call tourist-type "cliche" photos, they turn out to be marvelous. What a great overview! You have broad scenic vistas and closer views,as well as more personal vignettes from everyday life, such as "Cat by the window" and "Back alley @ Burano Island". My favorites of all are "Going for a walk" and the "sunset logs". Thanks for sharing these shots that give vivid testimony to the cultural richness of Italy, and to your photographic prowess.
