The northern most regions of Iraq along with some areas in the middle are predominately Kurdish. These regions have had their autonomy from Saddams reign of terror since the end of the gulf war. Being in a town such as Dohuk is like being in a totally different country. Looking around you would never recognize the blood bath portrayal of Iraq that the media propogates. The people are very friendly and hospitable.
