Buzios and Angra Dos Reis are about 3 hours drive from Rio but in opposite directions. Buzios is just past Cabo Frio and is a trendy upmarket resort with many terrific restaurants and designer label boutiques. It's main claim to fame seems to be that Bridgette Bardot used to holiday there forty years ago, ho hum. Seriously though it is a great holiday destination, rather expensive by Brazillian standards, with seventeen beaches surrounding the peninsular to choose from.
