These photos were taken in July 2003 by my daughter Brigitte, who was traveling thru Europe by train with her Mother using Eurailpasses... They spent some time in Brussels, and were able to get tickets to see this amazing historical spectacle called the "Ommegang," or more fully the "Ommegang Oppidi Bruxellensis." This is a recreation of the pageant held on June 2, 1549 by the Magistrate of Brussels in honor of the Emperor Charles the Fifth, his son Philip, Infante of Spain and Duke of Brabant, and his sisters Mary, Queen of Hungary, and Eleonor, Queen of France... Spain being the superpower of it's day, this was a very big deal for the "Bruxellois"... I humbly propose the "Flags" photo be considered for photo of the week, it is quite dramatique, n'est-ce pas...? All photos were taken with a Canon S200 digital Elph, and considering the lighting conditions, most came out quite well...
