Stef and I were fortunate enough to spend the beginning of the 15-day Chinese New Year holiday in the city of Dali, which had many traditional events and celebrations in the old town area. How many of them were specifically for the tourists, we'll never know, but we enjoyed being a part of the festivities anyway. I've attempted to explain the traditions I can, but hopefully in the coming weeks I'll talk to my students and get better explanations.
