In January we made a day trip to Sohar, Oman. It's less than two hours from Al Ain (UAE), so it's an easy trip. Oman has a different feel from the UAE. It is more laid back, and a bit less developed. The people are wonderful--very kind and friendly. Sohar is small, but it's a nice place to go for a quiet, relaxed getaway.
