I received an email from you several weeks ago seeking input on how Turin was received in the US during the Olympics. I have lost the email so I am responding now via WiR. First I believe most Americans love Italy with or without the Olympics. But most in the US do not know much about Italy aside from Tuscany, Rome, and Venice. We are not very familiar with Turin. This is obvious in the WiR browsing of Italy where there are very few (4) psoting about Turin. In my conversation with people, all seemed to think Turin looked quite lovely. I was surprised by how many Americans did not realize Italy had mountains or snow! All were impressed that the the games were conducted with very few problems. The Olympics definitely greatly increased the visibility and awarness of Turin in the US and all of the impression were very good.

Moments and lights
It was a joy to swing through your images of the Olympics - I was awed by your play of light and color. Several images grabbed me, but my favorites where: Mirror Games, Superga Guards the City - for those slashes of light, On the River Po - because of the softness of the reflection, and finally, Medals Plaza - for the way you show the international modern event imposed on the old city. Your view of the Olympics is a wonderful counterpoint to the TV coverage we have been watching here for the last two weeks. There are three images that will always remain in my mind as emblematic of Torino and these Olympics: "Reflections" which offers a brilliantly abstracted yet delicate metaphorical interpretation of this city; "The Milky Way," which links the abstracted silhouettes of Olympic spectators to the famed linked ring logo before the context of spectacular street decorations; and finally, the brilliant "Final Prayer" by an Olympic champion. Bravo, Andrea!
