I just spent carnival in Baranquilla in Colombia. It was an amazing time, and the city goes pretty wild. This city is on the coast and is very hot and humid. The carnival here is rated as the second best behind those in Brazil. If you ever get a chance to go to Colombia, so so. The dangers are far far over rated and its much safer to travel generally than Peru or Brazil for example.

The country is amazing, the people extremely friendly and the women amazingly beautiful - most beautiful in the world (jaja - out of 50 countries i have been that my opinion jaja). Anyway, back to carnival...

I bought a ticket for the stand (3 days pass 120,000 pesos) and went all three days. There were so many people it was unbelievable. The Colombians party really hard and are so friendly. In carnival they have foam fights and flour fights everywhere and being a gringo you are a prime target.

At night the parties move to a combination of the street, bars and houses in the barrios. One of the best things to do is watch colombians party. They are pretty much like brazilians and full of energy. I spent a fair bit of time in the Aguilla bar as it was tranquil and the staff were really great to me.

I met Eleana and Doris here and they showed me some of the city. They took me to a bar called La Quinta. This was one of the best nights I have had in Colombia as there was a guest band and the crowd was wild.

I will write more and edit this later when I have more time.
