The Esopus Creek near Phoenicia offers excellent tubing in the summer months. The creek/s currents are especially strong in late May and June, as well as during the second weekend in July, when the gates of the dam further up the mountain are opened up to release water (excessive rain anytime will also make the currents stronger). It/s also nice to amble your way down the creek from Phoenicia when the creek is quieter in the later part of the summer.
