The temple of Shiva called Kalisanatha at Ellora. Instead of having to figure out how to move and lift all those massive stone blocks, as at the pyramid of Cheops and Stonehenge, the builders here carved this temple out of the mountain. It sits, therefore, in a man-made canyon, and is hewn, ornament and all, from a single piece of stone. And idea that's insane and glorious.
