Columbarium
Sightseeing in Perak picture - These are common in Buddhist temples. They are usually found behind the main Buddha figure, sometimes in a separate room. Buddhists prefer cremation because the Buddha Himself and His Disciples were cremated more than 2500 years ago. To the Buddhists, the body is just life's temporary lodging, therefore, when a person passes away, the body becomes useless. After cremation, the bones and ashes are collected and kept in an urn, and if available, placed in a columbarium. Usually the remains are kept in a temple because in the temple, chanting is often carried out by the monks to transfer merits to the departed ones.
