One of the less well known chapters in book of man's inhumanity to man, is the 1932-33 Famine-Genocide (which Russian speakers wrongly translate ad Holocaust). In order to provide food for their own (Russian) terratory, the Stalinist regime deliberately enginered a famine in Ukraine as a result of which about 10 million lives were lost - a sizeable proportion of the population of about 39 million.
