How important is DNA & Genetics to man? Well, not too long ago, quite a number of "criminals" got the short end of justice as they were falsely accused of a crime they actually didn't commit. Some of them served for life & died in prison while others were executed. Nowadays, that can never happen again since we now have this powerful tool called "DNA testing" which yields 100% certainty as no 2 person in this world can ever have the same set of DNA not even identical twins! But the more important contribution of Genetics to mankind lies in the field of medicine. Now, man can go straight to the very source of humanly diseases via removing & replacing the faulty genes & this was made possible by the mapping of the human genome. All of these were made possible by the works of these 2 "great" men - Watson & Crick whose names will forever be intertwined. They ought to have a spot in the Abbey even if it's already full!
