James Watson [1928 - present] is actually an American while Francis Crick [1916 - present] is British. Both are important scientists of all time but Francis Crick will not have a spot at Westminster Abbey even if he truly deserves it since the Abbey's already full. *Watson & Crick's "cracking of the genetic code" in 1953 is one of the most important discoveries in Biology. Ultimately, not only is DNA now the most conclusive evidence in forensic studies but more importantly, the discoveries being made in the field of Genetics revolutionizes the means in which mankind can now treat all sorts grave diseases especially the so-called "in-born diseases" whereby a lot of them still has no cure at all. The unlocking of the DNA's double-helix structure made by this 2 men back in the 50's is what ultimately paved the way for man's eventual mapping of the human genome.
