Little Beach is alive and well. I know

I thought so
I was thinking the same thing about the nudist beach. Ah Maui, such a lovely place, it always calls one back. I can't wait to get there again.

Oasis lost
I remember Makena Beach prior to the development of the golf course and resort. A person could visit the beach without another being on it. There is a beach on the other side of the rocks you were standing on taking your photos. That little sheltered beach was a nudist beach with many Hippie visitors. The main source of employment on Maui was the sugar refinery. There was a grungy hotel near the refinery. Your photos are good and brings back memories, but seeing all those people on the beach defines the transition of the island.
