To reach Agua Azul, meaning "Blue Water" you must take a long and winding road across the tropical jungle of Chiapas mountains High and low lands alternate, while the greens hills blend into the distant blue sky. Suddenly the thread of river seems to break out of the hills and pass true thick foliage where the fragrance of myriads of flowers permeate the shadows. At the end, in a board clearing the Agua Azul waterfalls pour forth a complex of rapids, cascades and pools on a branch of the Tulija river. Surrounded by such dazzling vegetation the beauty of the river is captivating , with its brilliant turquoise color, although its hues change on very rainy days as the water descend the different levels they spread a white curtain over huge limestone rocks, turning golden on the sunlight.
