The wildlife viewing on our three week trip was excellent, but remember that it is not so easy to see wildlife amongst trees & forests as it is on the plains of Africa, but it is more of a challenge. We count ourselves very lucky to have seen five different tigers - the elephant /safaris/ within the game parks are a wonderful way to get close to them. The bird park at Keoladeo is just unbelievable and essential visiting for those interested.

We travelled many, many miles by car through the countryside to visit these national parks. This is a good way of seeing rural India, especially when the drivers oblige by stopping wherever you want. A lot of road users seem (and probably are) pretty reckless by western standards, so you need to try and make sure that your driver is a little more sympathetic to how you want to travel.

The trip to Kaziranga in Assam took up one week out of our three, but it was worth it just to see the rhinos. The park itself was very different to the others we visited, with swamps, grasslands and just patches of forest.
