After sliding down the first time on my stomach, I asked the kids there who had showed us how if they ever tried to stand up on the board. They said no, but they wanted to see me try it, and assured me they thought I could make it halfway at least. Actually, I got a bit past halfway, better than I (or they, I think) expected. You can see the results of the second half of the attempt, both by the sand on me, as well as by looking at the smooth track left on the right hand side of the dune versus the marks left by me tumbling down on the left.
