<noembed><nolayer><div style="position:absolute; left:0; top:-100; display:none;"> Spruce Tree House; Mesa Verde, CO<br> Scenery in United States picture - Mesa Verde consists of several deserted ruins that were occupied between roughly 300 A.D. and 1300 A.D. This ruin is the best perserved. It housed between 100 and 150 individuals of the ancestral puebloan people (popularly referred to as the Anasazi). Somewhere around the year 1300, they all simply walked away leaving their homes and many household items. Apparently, prolonged drought and depletion of the local resources were the cause. These people are the ancestors of today&#39;s pueblo Indians: Hopi, Acoma, Zuni, etc. Numerous artifacts were pillaged from these sites by both early archaeologists and souvenir hunters. A shipment of 600 items was taken to Sweden by one foreign archaeologist and remains there still. </div></nolayer></noembed>
