I immediately liked York even as we got lost driving toward our hotel. It was clean, green, and tidy – and the sun was shinning. From our hotel window we could gaze across the river and see the old town. The buildings were obviously old but well maintained. A town with pride. Later when we walked the streets that impression strengthened. The next morning the rains came and remained, but that first impression lingers even now back in the new U.S. of A.
