These photos are from a Habitat for Humanity trip to Fiji that took place in July of 2003. This is the same trip from which the photos on Michael Swain's personal article are taken. The group was comprised mostly of Americans, plus 2 Canucks and one man from Japan. The first week was spent building the house in Vunavutu village, near Sigatoka on Viti Levu. The team was put up in a house in the center of the village, and a group of women rotated duties cooking our meals and washing our clothes. We were very well cared for- the whole town was incredibly hospitable (sometimes so much so that I had to blush). After the work portion, we all flew over to Taveuni to stay at the Garden Island Resort for a few days, then I went off on my own a bit. I didn't take too many people photos because everyone else on the team got plenty of those. I just tried to get stuff that was especially significant to me or that others might have missed. Many of these shots didn't turn out as well as I hoped, because I was using disposable cameras, but no photo can tell the whole story, anyway. A picture may be worth a thousand words, but the worth of an experience is beyond words. Enjoy.

PS: Love goes out to all my friends from this trip. Hope to see you all again sometime.
