I went on the Marco Polo down the E. coast of Africa, from Mombasa, Kenya, to Capetown, it was very nice ship, with a wonderful Captain!!

phil there was an interesting book by veril called bridge of light. it's about peru and has a very indiana jones feel to it. It talks about a lost culture in the wilderness that he swears up and down still exists.

Commuters
Well, I love this shot! The displaced arm of the man...my kind of humor! It's almost as if the arm somehow belongs to the person sitting in back of him! Well maybe that's why this is a "Special" bus. A silly comment because I find this shot funny. Couldn't you find a place for it on Pbase? It IS special!!

Nice composition with the placement of the tent in your frame, and the see-right-through-it angle to emphasize the beautiful view that the sunseekers are seeing, but doesn't look like too much shelter from that heat!

Wonderful
I never even thought of Equador as a coastal country. Peru is full of wonderful people, I know since I've been there! Lima is a diverse historic city with myriad things to do and visit. The seafood is the best that I've ever experienced in the world, and so very fresh, and pompano galore! The beach in Lima has the perfect surf during their winter season, and the surf is full of curtious surfers, something not so common in Hawaii. There is a rock jetty that extends very far out into the surf with a gazabo bar and restaurant built out on the end, and it is only about three feet above the surf when it is rough, so it appears that the surfers are going to end up in your lap while your drinking your Peruvian pisco sours! There are two differnt breaks for the surfers created by the jetty. The area is a must visit.

"On the Horn..." I, again, think about the interaction of nature and "civilization" These birds live among the statues which they use for rest. "Parque del Amor..." The bench is interesting in and of itself but to actually have the lovers in the picture moves it up a notch. "San Francisco..." I, too, am drawn to the feel of this abstract. I like it even more after I read your comment that explains that it captures your feelings.

"Inside Wall" I like that you presented this one in black and white. The "z" streaks across the image like and ancient lightning bolt. "Fisherman..." The curved parts of the boat draw me into the image and allow me to think about the man. "Birdstorm" pops out at me. I, too, can hear the shrieking and calling, but after that initial response I think about the wildness that continues to exist even amid and around the man-made order we try to impose on the world by building ships, and breakwaters.

"Net Load of Tuna" The forground of the net at first confused my eye and made me look closer. Then I began to understand and move in a layer to the haunting eye which reminds me that for me to eat other things must die. "Fin Flipper" is a favorite. The focus on the fins with that glorious light is supported by the back layer of the soft focused man. Again, for me, by your skill as a photographer you've captured the spirit of the situation rather than merely recording it. "Exploring Huaca" The monotone of color, which may have been interesting in its own right, is brought alive by the tourist, with his colorful shirt. But the cane adds a poignancy to the image: the old visiting the ancient.

Viewing...
...your images allows us to feel and see places that we haven't yet had to chance to visit. Another set of vital images: "Nimble Fingers" I like both of the images of this woman but this one speaks to me more. The angle of the arms draws me to her hands. Her hands, which express her history as much as her face does in the other image. I also like the way that her completed work is behind her hands and her future work is in front of her hands. "Tent for Two.." jumped out at me. I like the balance in the image and the way the green of the water is against the red of the tent. I wonder if the people who last sat in the chairs were a little miffed with each other as they left as the chairs are "looking" in different directions.
