<noembed><nolayer><div style="position:absolute; left:0; top:-100; display:none;"> West Camel<br> Somerset picture - View inside the church looking at the altar. An object of particular interest is the intricately carved stone piece to the left of the altar. This is believed to be the remant of a pre 940AD Saxon preaching cross. The church guide says the following about it...... &#39;The sculptured stone mount is a portion of the Saxon preaching cross that stood on this site before the first wooden church was built, services were held in the open beneath the cross by clergy travelling as needed from the collegiate church of St Andrew, Northover, Ilchester.&#39; </div></nolayer></noembed>
