Charterhouse
Somerset picture - A view of the Outdoor Activity Centre, containing the telescope dome, and Charterhouse church from Blackmore Nature Reserve. Also near here are the remains of a Roman Fort, and a lead mining area. The Romans established a lead mining site in AD48, the earliest and most important site in Britain. Just over 1 mile away is another lead mining site Velvet Bottom which has been mined for lead even before the Romans arrived.
