From his perch Lenin points toward the harbor below. As was mentioned in another article, every city and town in what was then the Soviet Union had a large statue dedicated to Lenin. Many have been torn down since the Union's collapse, but many still stand. Vladimir Ilyich Lenin isn't revered by all as he once was, but the founder of the USSR and leader of Bolshevism certainly was a very important figure in Russian and world history.
