I experienced that altitude sickness once in La Paz, Bolivia, which is about 13,000 ft. high, there is nothing like it, ugh! They have some "siroche" pills you can take for it, too bad I didn't have them, at the time!

Nice pictures of Yunnan. It is a beautiful place to visit, if you make allowance for the somewhat annoying habits of the local crowds. I went there in Dec last year and it wasn't so crowded, so I was lucky. Btw, notice that you took the cable-car all the way up to the top of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. Where was this cable-car station, was it near the White-water River shown in one of your photos? New World, Old World
Felt as if I was there first hand to experience the cultural and scenic tour of a part of China. I have done some caving and mountain climbing before and it was excellent. Somehow in a way, you appreciate the silence while you are there (minus the endless banter and shuffling feets of tourist of course) and absorb nature how it was and should be, untainted and free flowing.

I am a Chinese myself, and living in a somesort metropolitan city. In a way I am excited that we have advanced to where we are today, but sights like the old streets in China with their simplicity of life never cease to bring back fond memories and be a reminder to me, less we forget where we came from.

Makes us wonder if we were to swap places with the people over there, will we feel at ease with nature or will we feel misplaced with our dreams and ambitions?
